The events are organized on a non-profit basis, but with the aim of promoting the territory, the sport and the values of trail running. These principles form the foundation of the competitions, and the decisions of the competition management are always guided by them. The competitions offer qualifying points for the ITRA and UTMB Index circuits and are under the aegis of CONI and AICS. This regulation was drawn up on March 21, 2024.

Article 2 – PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENTS

To participate in a Competitive S1 event, you need to:

To be fully aware of the length and specificity of the race and to possess adequate training.

Having acquired, before the race, a real capacity for personal autonomy in the mountains that allows you to manage any problems relating to this type of race and, in particular:

Be able to face independently, without external help, climatic conditions that can be very difficult due to the altitude (night, wind, cold, fog, rain or snow);

Be able to independently manage physical or mental complications caused by extreme tiredness, gastrointestinal disorders, muscle or joint pain, minor injuries, etc.

To be fully aware that the organisation's role is not to assist runners in managing their problems and that, in a mountain activity, safety depends above all on the competitor's ability to adapt to encountered or predictable problems.

Inform and make your companions aware of respect for places, people and the rules of the race.

Have a competitive medical certificate valid for athletics, cross-country skiing, triathlon, cycling or swimming, for Italian citizens only and for non-Italian citizens registered in Italy with a sports promotion federation or body recognized by CONI.

Article 3 – REGISTRATION FEES

SentieroUNO events are non-profit and aim to promote the territory and the spirit of trail running. Semi-sufficiency is defined as the ability to be autonomous between two refreshment points, both in terms of nutrition and with regards to material and safety, and to be able to adapt to any unexpected or foreseeable problems (adverse weather conditions, physical problems, accidents...). This principle is based on the following rules:

The competitor must bring with him all the mandatory material for the entire duration of the race (see the EQUIPMENT paragraph). This material must be carried in the backpack, which must remain the same throughout the entire route. At any time, the race commissioners can carry out checks of the backpack and its contents. The competitor is required to undergo these checks with cordiality, otherwise he will be subject to exclusion from the race.

Refreshment points offer drinks and food for consumption on-site. Organisers provide only water or energy drinks to refill water bottles or hydration packs. When leaving a refreshment point, the runner must ensure they have sufficient food and drink to reach the next refreshment point.

Personal assistance is only permitted in the refreshment areas.

Medical assistance by a member of the runner's team is strictly prohibited. Only minor care, such as massage or blister treatments, is permitted, as long as the runner remains seated in a chair and not lying down.

It is forbidden to be accompanied or accompanied along any part of the route by a person not registered for the race, except in areas near the assistance points. A participant who is accompanied during the race violates the principle of semi-autonomy. Race officials or staff members who witness this violation are authorized to sanction the participant to ensure compliance with the rules.

Runners are not permitted to participate with a dog or any other animal, including service animals, without prior authorization obtained after a case-by-case evaluation.

Article 7 EQUIPMENT

For safety reasons, each participant must bring all items listed in the mandatory material section indicated on the webpage relating to their race distance. You must have all the material with you for the entire duration of the race, even if it is not used. During the race, checks will be carried out, both organised and random, of the material. Runners who do not have all the compulsory equipment will be subject to penalties, which may include disqualification (see PENALTIES). It is important to note that the list of mandatory material includes essential items that every runner must carry. One should not opt for the lightest possible clothing; on the contrary, it is advisable to have clothing that offers adequate protection in the mountains and along the route against adverse weather conditions (cold, wind, heavy rain and snow), thus ensuring greater safety and better performance. If the competitor decides to use poles, they must carry them with them for the entire duration of the race. It is forbidden to start without poles and retrieve them along the route. It is not possible to leave poles in the personal effects bag for safety and integrity reasons, both for your own bag and for those of others. If you have any questions about the mandatory material, please contact the organization. The use of headphones for listening to music is tolerated, provided it is done safely. However, it is mandatory to remove earphones when crossing roads, as well as in the vicinity of any checkpoint and security team members.

Article 8 Chest strap

It is possible to collect the bib number of other competitors after completing, by the delegating party, the collection delegation fields in the competitor area. The bib must be worn, if possible, on the front part of the body (chest or belly) and remain visible at all times for the entire duration of the race. Therefore, it must always be placed over clothes and can be fixed on the backpack or on a leg, in order to guarantee perfect visibility. Sponsor names and logos must not be changed or hidden. The bib is essential to access the organization's shuttles, refreshment points, medical points, rest rooms, showers, bag storage and recovery areas, etc.

Article 9 – PERSONAL BAGS

The bags and personal bags are kept in a video-monitored area, but managed independently by the competitors, who personally take care of the deposit and collection of their bags. Bags must be collected no later than 2 hours after the end of the race. The organization undertakes to guarantee the return of the bags to the arrival area, provided that they have been deposited according to the instructions provided. Sticks cannot be transported by the organization. Complaints regarding the contents of the bags are not allowed, as it is not verified, consequently, the organization does not assume responsibility. We do not recommend placing valuables in bags and we recommend keeping toiletries and changes of clothes at your accommodation. For some distances, the option of dropping off bags at the starting line may be available; this service can be booked with a supplement from your runner area. Detailed information on the times, methods and places of delivery of the bags is available on the race page.

Article 10 Showers

An outdoor shower service is available at the end of the race. The organization does not assume responsibility for objects left in the changing rooms or cloakrooms; for hygiene and safety reasons, at the end of the race, any objects left behind will be removed.

Article 11 – SHUTTLE

No shuttle service is provided.

Article 12 – ENVIRONMENTAL RESPECT

By registering for an S1 event, participants undertake to respect the environment and the natural spaces they pass through. In particular:

It is absolutely forbidden to throw waste along the route (gel tubes, papers, organic waste, plastic packaging, etc.). Bins are available at the refreshment points where competitors can dispose of waste. The Race Commissioners carry out surprise checks on the route.

Participants must keep their waste and packaging until it reaches the designated bins at the refreshment points. The organization invites competitors to bring a bag to transport waste.

It is mandatory to follow the marked paths, avoiding taking shortcuts. Cutting a path causes damage to erosion and the environment.

No disposable utensils (cutlery, cups, plates) will be distributed in the assistance areas and refreshment areas, to reduce the use of plastic by both runners and volunteers. Therefore, you are invited to bring your own utensils to consume hot food at the refreshment points.

Article 13 – GRANTS

The refreshment points offer drinks and food to be consumed on site. The organizers only provide water or energy drinks to fill water bottles or bags. When leaving a refreshment point, the runner must ensure that they have with them the amount of food and drink necessary to reach the next refreshment point. Only competitors with a clearly visible bib have access to refreshments. The list of refreshment points and available products is published on the event website and in the runner's guide.

Article 14 – CHECKPOINTS

Checks will be carried out in all refreshment points and in some refreshment points. There will also be surprise checkpoints along the route, in addition to refreshment points and refreshment points. Their whereabouts are not disclosed.

Article 15 – SIGNAGE AND MARKINGS

To facilitate visibility at night, the warning flags are equipped with reflective elements that reflect the light from headlamps. ATTENTION: if the signals are no longer visible, you need to retrace your steps! To respect the environment, colored chalk markings are used along the paths. The routes are marked, for the races that require it, with ribbons, arrows, paint marks or signs. However, it is the competitor's responsibility:

Be aware that most of the routes take place on forest paths and tracks where sudden deviations are possible. It is therefore essential to pay attention to the signs and, in the case of non-visible signs, go back to the last visible sign to check that you have not missed a crossroads.

Crossroads are signposted, where possible, with signs and arrows: one sign before the crossroads, one immediately after and a further confirmation sign.

It is recommended to always download the GPX tracks, even for races with signs, study the route and use exclusively the file provided via automatic email before the race. This version includes any small last minute changes. GPX tracks will only be provided to race competitors by email 48 hours before the race.

In case of bad weather and fog, greater attention is required, as rain, snow or fog can significantly reduce the visibility of signs. This principle applies similarly to driving.

Article 16 – MEDICAL AID AND ASSISTANCE

Along the route, there are several rescue stations, connected via radio or telephone with the race headquarters (PC corsa). A medical control team will be active at the PC corsa or along the route for the entire duration of the event. These stations are intended to assist anyone requiring medical help. It is the responsibility of any runner in difficulty or injured to request assistance:

Going to a first-aid post

By calling the assistance number on the bib

Asking another runner to alert the emergency services

By sending a WhatsApp message to the number indicated on the bib. Each runner is required to assist people in danger and report the need for help. In case of impossibility to contact the race control center and only in absolute emergency situations, it is possible to call the emergency services directly, using the specific emergency numbers of each State, indicated in the runner's guide. Various environmental and race-related factors can prolong the wait to receive help; therefore, safety depends on the quality of the equipment in your race backpack.

Medical, paramedical, rescue and course officials, as well as any individual designated by the race director, have the authority to:

Force any competitor judged unfit to continue the race to withdraw

Request the use of mandatory material

Evacuate runners deemed to be in danger by any means

Directing patients towards the most appropriate medical care. By accepting assistance, the runner submits to the authority of the medical staff and accepts their decisions. Treatment via IV drip entails withdrawal from the race. A medical tent will be available at the finish for runners with health issues, with care based on the discretion of the medical staff. It is mandatory to remain on the marked course, even to sleep, and voluntarily deviating from the course absolves the organisers of responsibility.

Article 17 – TIME LIMIT AND TIME BARRIERS

The time barriers (maximum times) for leaving the refreshment points are available on the event website. Any changes will be communicated via SMS and WhatsApp. With departures in multiple brackets, the maximum authorized times and time barriers are the same for everyone and calculated to allow you to reach the finish line within the maximum time, including any stops. To continue the race, you must leave the checkpoint before the time limit, regardless of your arrival time. Runners who withdraw, are stopped or exceed the time barriers cannot continue, their bib will be cut off, and they will be transported to the main area by the organization. Time barriers and time limits are specified on the event website.

Article 18 – COLLECTIONS AND TRANSPORT to SARDON VILLAGE

The competitor may withdraw from the race exclusively at a checkpoint, except in cases of injury sustained along the route. It is necessary to inform the checkpoint manager or report the intention to withdraw via WhatsApp, as well as notify the assistance number. In case of withdrawal on a section between two checkpoints, the competitor must reach the nearest one and communicate their withdrawal to the manager. It is essential to keep the race number, which serves as a pass for access to shuttles, meals, the infirmary, etc. Return can take place in the following ways:

Return buses are available from some refreshment points, identified with the "bus" symbol on the maps and passage tables, to bring withdrawn competitors to the arrival area.

Competitors who withdraw at a first-aid post or a refreshment point not served by the shuttle, but in health conditions that do not require emergency transport, must reach the nearest return point as quickly as possible and independently.

As regards the refreshment or rescue points accessible by car or 4x4:

At the time of checkpoint closure, the organisation may arrange for the return of withdrawn competitors, depending on vehicle availability.

In the event of adverse weather conditions requiring the total or partial interruption of the race, the organization undertakes to organize the return of the competitors as quickly as possible.

Article 19 REST

During the race, runners will have rest areas available at some refreshment points, as indicated on the event page. Those who have completed the race and wish to extend their stay will have to provide their own accommodation.

Article 20 – CLASSIFICATIONS AND AWARDS

For each race, a general ranking is drawn up for the men's and women's categories. The categories or positions receiving awards are detailed on the web page dedicated to the specific distance.

Trophies for the top three finishers (male and female) are awarded exclusively in the competitive standings. The non-competitive standings do not entitle participants to prizes, with the exception of the finisher medal provided to all participants.

Article 21 – PENALTIES AND DISQUALIFICATION

In case of violation of the rules, race directors, commissioners and managers of refreshment points/checkpoints have the right to immediately apply a penalty following this table:

Route cutat the discretion of the Race Management

Absence of mandatory safety equipment (minimum water quantity, waterproof jacket with hood, headlamp, thermal blanket, smartphone)Disqualification

Refusal to undergo mandatory material checkDisqualification

Smartphone off or in airplane mode15-minute penalty

Littering or failure to use organised toilets (wilful act) by a competitor or their staff/assistant60 min penalty

Disrespect towards people (the organisation or other competitors).
