Sardon Run 2026 — runners on the coastal Karst path at sunset

Parking and shuttle

The last stretch is on foot

The Sardon Village sits on a natural island, inside a pine wood classified as a nature reserve. That is exactly why vehicles are not allowed in: however you get here, the last stretch is done on foot.

We do not see this distance as an inconvenience, but as part of the beauty of racing in an unspoilt, protected place surrounded by nature. Walking to the finish is part of the experience too.

How you get here

Train and busBus stop a few minutes away, Sistiana station. No parking worries at all.
Public car parksFree, from 750 m to 2.3 km away. The closest one fills up at dawn.
Partner car parkA reserved, guaranteed space, with shuttle. Booked in advance from the Runner Profile.
Getting a liftWhoever drives you drops you where car access ends, in front of the island.

The three public car parks, free of charge

The car parks are there: you simply need to plan a little ahead and allow for a short walk. Tap the image to see the walking route.

The closest car park is likely to be taken up in large part by the runners of the Sardon Ultra Marathon and the Sardon Stage Ultra, who start in the early hours of the morning. That is why we suggest that runners in the other races use the reserved car park with shuttle service.

Reserved car park with shuttle

Parking: € 0 The area is the employee car park of Mondi Group SpA, who gave it to us free of charge for race day. You do not pay for the space. You pay for the seat on the shuttle, nothing else.

The contribution barely covers the cost of hiring the coaches: we only charge for the services you actually use. The more of you travel together, the less it costs each.

You cannot walk into or out of the area. The road linking it to the village is a busy main road with no pavement — and 22 August is the weekend everyone drives home along the coast. It is not just dangerous: it is also a long way. It is not an option, not even for part of the way.

It is booked from the Runner Profile while places last, and you board the shuttle only with a booking: no seats are added and no tickets are sold on site. It cannot be booked for the Sardon Ultra Marathon and the Sardon Stage Ultra, which start at 05:00, when the area is still closed.

If you want to spend even less

You can also buy a single ticket: the driver first takes the other passengers to where car access ends, then goes back alone to park.

It is a possible solution, but not the one we recommend: it means more driving, more traffic for no reason and, above all, turning the poor driver into the group's official valet — with the risk of getting to their own start late. For a minimal contribution, it is far better to arrive together, leave the car and start the day without complications. 🙂

What time to arrive

Bib collection closes 30 minutes before your race starts. Between the shuttle, the walk and the queue, allow at least an hour: come an hour early and the day starts without a rush.

The exceptions are the Sardon Ultra Marathon and the Sardon Stage Ultra: collection is from 04:00 to 05:00.
